THECONCEPT
In a detached dwelling neighborhood in Fisherton, this weekend-residence conceals the view from the street with a sophisticated outer barrier; a fence made of rotated metallic profiles. This provides the residents with privacy in the most social areas of the house, while keeping the overall minimalistic aesthetics in mind.
The naves are closed to its exterior laterals, pierced only at specific points and entirely opened at the end of the space, offering a clear view of the green landscape. These spaces allow for peaceful experiences where one can indulge relaxingly over the weekend, encompassed by nature.

THESTRUCTURE
Rethinking the outdoor gallery is one of the most important goals of the project — a modern pavilion adapted with contemporary concepts. The volume revealed to the street becomes the entrance space of the house. As a piece of landscape, the green roof has Argentinian local species, generating a fresh exhibition directed at the outdoor swimming pool patio. The two remaining volumes complete the C configuration of the project around the patio. They are conceived as an archetype with subtle asymmetrical variances to highlight interior circulation.
The three volumes harmonize with black nail strip panels as the total exterior envelopes of the two naves, utilizing a few materials to provide an abundance of detail. A system of metal frames shape the naves while a metal grid is the technical solution for the gallery structure. Each volume relates to the next one through an open or light space. The project over-extends on the social aspect of the outdoor area to promote a sense of peacefulness and composure. Spaces are flexible: the gallery can be repurposed into the garage. The kitchen, dining and living are integrated to encourage seamless movement between rooms.
THEOUTCOME
Black Orchid House fosters modern architectural concepts and critically adapts them to our contemporaneity. Industrial meets the refinement of craftsmanship, also considering energy efficiency.
The pavilion and central areas become inhabitable spaces in an exclusive house that achieves a balance between material contrast, filters, transparencies and relation to the landscape.
